Imitation Irish a Cappella & Comedy!
Ireland's shame and a menace to sobriety, The Dregs are a band of Scandinavian-Irish posers who bring their own merry flavor of folk music to the pubs and taverns of Minnesota. (Ok, some of them are a little Irish.) With staggering behavior, these six sorry sots perform intoxicating ballads, lush anthems, and sea shanties that'll have you three sheets to the wind! So pour yourself a cold one, and get ready for a stomping, clapping, spitting, swearing, mug-swinging, good time!
- dregs (drëgs) n, plural.
- The smallest and least desirable portion of residual liquid at the bottom of a drinking vessel.
- Pathetic band of Irish wannabes who sing, jest, and beg for your table scraps. (See photo, right).
The times they are a-changin'
As we look forward to a new year, The Dregs would like to announce the departure of one of our members.
Angelina Lais has decided to leave The Dregs to pursue other interests. We all understand her need to move on but she will be missed.
Tim, Chad, Susanne, Rachael and Frost plan to continue with the Dregs for as long as possible. We look forward to the challenges a new year brings even as we say good bye to our friend and collaborator.
We wish Angelina the best of luck in the future. Adios Amega!
Did we mention we are doing a little performing?
The dregs have a barrel full of performances coming up and we thought we'd make sure our fans know about them!
First and foremost, we'd like to remind you that the holidays are coming up and we are going to be singing some music to keep us all in the holiday spirit! We have three holiday shows at the Minneapolis Theatre Garage. Joining us on stage will be our good friends Jeff Cahill and Terry Foy.
You can catch us on December 6th, 17th and 19th. The shows on the 6th and 17th are Family Friendly and will start at 7:30. The show on the 19th is our adult special and that starts at 10:00 P.M.
All shows are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under.
Dregs win Best Music Act at Minnesota Renaissance Festival
As the Minnesota Renaissance Festival winds to a close, The Dregs thank all of our "Droopies" for another great season.
This year, The Dregs were honored as the Best Music Act for the 2009 season, beating out two great bands - Four Pints Shy and the Whiskey Chasers. We were proud to be on the same list with those bands and equally proud to perform at the festival with so many gifted performers. Getting recognized by our peers was a big thing to us and we all got extra drunk as a result.
Dregs at O'Gara's this Thursday!
Thursday, September 17th marks the date when we have only six months left until the most important holiday on the calendar (at least if you are an Irish band) - St. Patrick's Day!
The Dregs will celebrate by performing at O'Gara's Garage with The Durty Nellys, Green Tea and Bedlam and drinking until they fall over. For the sake of our fans, we plan to do so in that order.
There are even rumors that the Nellys and the Dregs are going to do a tune together! We can neither confirm or deny those reports at this time.
The show starts at 8:45 and The Dregs are the first act up. If you get there late, you will still hear some great music but you won't hear us. So get there early and buy us a beer.
Dregs to Pitch Video Game to Popular Consoles
Convinced that their audience-participation act equates to "interactive entertainment", today The Dregs officially announced, their intentions to develop Irish Band, a console video game featuring the sound and likeness of all six members. The included peripherals are said to be simple 4-button controllers fashioned to resemble an accordion, a bohdrain, and a cowbell. Common guitar controllers will be compatible with the software, but this game will come packaged with an extra clip to simulate a capo and key discrepancies, spawning in-game player arguments... just like the real band.
"This was the next logical step." says front-man Tim Wick. "Hell, if the Beatles can do it, so can we. And half of them are DEAD!"
